Moving Objects Tracking

Moving Objects Tracking is the crucial technology for many online video applications such as video indexing and video surveillance. Our system uses information directly extracted from the compressed H.264 video instead of decoding and process each frame to automatically detect and track moving objects.

Video Fingerprinting is an exciting area, with several challenging aspects. Not only the extracted information needs to be unique, in order to correctly identify segments of a movie; it is also important to efficiently store the information in a way that provides fast search times, when working with an increasing number of movies.

Log Analyzer

We are developing a log analyzer for online video service. The log analyzer parses log files of a media server to extract useful information, e.g., who, when and how a video content was viewed. The important data is saved in databases and analyzed on demand. The log analyzer can help service providers, advertisers as well as operators optimize their services and improve user satisfaction.

Recommender System

Recommender System has become a buzzword in the tech world, especially in the E-Commerce and online video service territory. The goal of recommender system is to discover the unique preferences of individual users and provide personalized services. Since online video service is one of the core businesses in SkillupJapan, we are devoted to researching in this area. We have built a recommender system that is optimized for our video platform. The system is able to provide accurate recommendations in a very efficient manner.

Encluster

Encluster is an automatic encoding system developed at SkillupJapan that supports a large amount of video formats. The system is extremely fast since it works using Quadcore-processors and scalable since more machines can be easily added as the demand grows. The cluster of encoder machines can be remotely controlled through a simple XML API. Each machine is capable of encoding six Full-HD movies simultaneously.

PR-SCTP & H.264/AVC

We evaluate via real experiments the performance of the Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) and the Partial Reliability extension (PR-SCTP) for transmitting real-time H.264 video streaming over the Internet. Our work looks at the use of PR-SCTP services as mechanisms to provide different transmission reliabilities to the characteristic I, P and B frames used by H.264 codec.
